Cats & Socks

Finished knitting my pair of stripy socks this last weekend. Nothing to fancy, just a two by two stripe. These were mainly just seeing how the toe up construction works. I have to say that I LIKE the way the toe is shaped, but the heal was all sorts of baggy at first & required me to rip it out 3 times. Hmmm so there will be future modifications to toe up socks. But frankly, they were super easy and I’m sure I will be doing more.

I started my rusted root last night. Course I had to rip it out on the second row because I had screwed something up. But now I’m past the 10 row screw ups & am on my way. The lace section is pretty easy which is nice as I’m not a real big fan of lace in the first place & things are going well. Course I hate when they are like “even rows are increase rows & odd rows are not. Continute until you hit row 73.” People. Am I really going to count 73 rows? They don’t even give you a stitch count you are supposed to end up with which is how I usually deal with this bs. So yeah. Counting rows. Woooo.

What did you say? You want some random cat pictures? Why of course! :D

MOOSE!

I would like to thank Shannon over at http://minervaturkey.blogspot.com/ for pointing out her cute as pie sock blockers with the hedgehogs. If not I would never have seen that, in my life time, a dream could come true. Is it true? Am I dreaming? IT’S REAL! I am the proud new owner of moose sock blockers. My life is complete now. :D

A Weekend of Ahhhhhhhh

Over here at the Slayer Compound we needed a weekend away from everyone & everything. My parents left at 1am saturday morning so Matt and I stayed up to see them off. They made it all the way back down to Alabama (from Ohio) by 6pm that night. Now THAT is some driving people.

So saturday to kick off my weekend of “really doing nothing” I went to the library, and checked out two books. Debie Bliss Knits for Babies and Inspired By Nature (also a knitting book). I’m super glad that I didn’t buy the Inspired by nature. Though absolutely beautiful, there are only two patterns I could see myself wearing in this book. So I will copy those out & return the book. That’s $30 saved people!

I finished knitting my Donna sweater from magknits.com. Cute and super easy. Wish I would have made it about 2 inches longer (which I thought I had!)  and a much deeper V neck. BUT it’s ok. this will be a good weekend out in the yard sweater. Very sturdy cotton but not a wear to work sweater. That’s ok. No biggie, It was fun to knit & my seaming was flawless! FLAWLESS I TELL YOU!!!!!

I’ve become quite a tea drinker. I blame this on my friend Michelle & the lovely little tea house on the east side that she introduced me to. Matt had bought me this after I had my D & C as a get well present. You can read the writing on the package. I was excited. It BLOOMS, it contains “RARE” silver nettle.

People. This. Tea. Is. Gross. It smells like wet flowers & tastes like you were out in the yard chewing on your lawn. Ew. Beautiful, but ew. So now I think I will just use the packages as decoration or something.

In other news by the end of the week I should ovulate. I’m hoping I ovulate. We are hoping that this is our month. With so much else going on around us it’s hard though. Lots of stress. I don’t know if that’s really helpful to baby making. Well, if we don’t get pregnant this month then it’s another month of fertility drugs. *sigh* You know, I could probably really handle the infertility if our parent company didn’t want to sell us & screw us out of the money they promised us.  I could handle it if we weren’t threatened with moving back to California & selling the house that we just bought (not 1 year ago!) . No one said life was easy, but they never said it would be this complicated either.

When Family Attacks!

This week has been intresting. I suddenly feel like the parent presiding over my house hold of family.  My mom and step dad have been here since friday night.

Why, YES my dears! That IS a whole lot of beer!

Also adding to the Great Martin Cleveland Migration of 2007 my grandparents were here thru the weekend.  I have to say though, that my relationship with my grandparents has steadily gotten much better as I have gotten older. I don’t think that when I was younger they quite knew how to talk to me but now that we are all adults I find them quite intresting. My Buppa (finnish for grandfather) can talk. Oh MAN can he talk. Anything that pops into his head just spills right out of his mouth.  Finally I am at an age where I find that all quite intresting though. What a life he has lead. I love just listening to him talk.

Also, isn’t it unfortuniate to see exactly where you got your double chin (even while skinny!) from? I’m deffinately going to have to have some kind of lift done!

ramdom moment

I’m slowly but surely moving over here. Easier with the pictures & all. But if you see this are are more intrested in random parts of the life of a Credit Card Processing Employee (OMG) then you can still find all that here  http://preitas.livejournal.com/

Socks to be YOU!

Well, I doubt that very much. But yeah, had to pull a pun out of somewhere & well…um it kinda fit right? *shuffles feet*

ANYWHO! yes, More finished objects. This week has been so incredibly slow knit whise because I had to rip out a sweater sleeve *sob* because obviously I used my yarn unwisely (or could it be that the pattern obliterated that 5 random balls of yarn from it’s memory?)  so after exhuastive searching & also calling in European reinforcements I had to conceed that this particular yarn in my particular dye lot was obviously stowed in a rocket at the time I bought it & blasted off the face of the earth to make cute red marian sweaters.  So I ordered up some lions brand organic cotton and hopefully that will do me for sleeves. I still would have rather had it be all the same *sad face*

                                                                    OK! So yes. Socks!

Grumperina’s jaywalkers to be exact.  In crazy ass hand dyed yarn bought from etsy in a drunken stuper. Well I was mostly drunk. & Matt was away on business…so I bought a bunch of skiens that night.

Second pair of socks so not all that bad. This pattern is wonderfully lovely for sell striping yarn. LOVE this pattern. So eay and I will probably do it again :D I don’t like continuing the pattern on the bottom though so I might leave that out next time.

                                                                    More yarn? Seriously?

These babies are about 1/2 way done into a pair of socks. I was totally going to make the endpaper mitts but then we heard that we might be moving back to California & I KNEW I would never get to use this lucious yarn then. So into socks they went. Striping & should be done by the weekend.

My Little Miss Coupe

No she’s not exactly a coupe. But we do love her. Matt and I bought a new car this weekend. It was sorely needed as the van was off & on leaking coolant from some where & the window motor was going, the windsheild wipers only worked on full speed, a back window was completely missing (we used plexi glass to fill the gap) and the steering was completely sloopy.  First off I’d like to say that we had diffrent thoughts about what car we would finally come home with.

I thought we would be coming home with a Jeep. Matt ulimately thought that we would be coming home with a Honda Element. Both of these failed us. Though we both fit int he jeaps it was competely uncomfortable. The  Jeep seats are not made high enough to allow you to sit comfortablely with your knees at a 90* angle. When both of us have knee problems in the first place I hate that. The Handling was sloppy and the ride was rough. Deffinately off the list. We tried a Toyota Scion but I couldn’t get over how small the the features were. The steering wheel & the center council & everything was way to small for the car. It just looked like a cartoon. Then it was to Honda. Not only did we have the worst sales person ever but Matt barely fit his knees behind the dash.

So off to Dodge we went. We thought we were intrested in the Nitro but came out with the same problems of Matt not fitting behind the dash with his long legs.  What we found was surprising.  The Dodge Caliber was perfect. Right size, great leg room, really fast & zippy with the pick up. AND it’s a hatch back. God I love this car. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

isn’t she just the cutest ever?!

And That Reminds me…

I’ve been a knitting maniac lately.  I can’t focus one second anything with out wishing that I was knitting. This has become a full on obsession. Which is very much in keeping with my personality.

Michelle gave me this wonderful stuffed wildebeast for my birthday. God I love him so much. His name is Willard & obviously, he knits. :D

My friend Cassie was talking over at her blog about childhood memories & how we associate the past.   Riding with my mom. I was a total geek in school, rarely did I have any lasting friendships before junior high.  Though I had no real friends I was more blessed than most of those kids that shunned me.  My mom and I had horses. She would pick me up after work from the sitters and we would drive out to the barn.  We would take the horses out to the patures or down through the riding trails in the park and just be together.  Those smells of the wild flowers in the park, horse sweat, and manure bring back the best memories in my life.

There was the time when I got my first english saddle with my name in a little brass plate on the back.  The time that I no longer had to use the truck’s tail gate to get in the saddle.  And of course my first real jumps. There was the time my mom’s thuroughbred Roy took off through Baker park only  stopping to eat some poor families 1/2 a bag of hot buns.

There are still times when I’m out in the country & I get a big nosefull of earth and pollon and manure that I am instantly brought back to that place & my chest just swells. Those memories and those smells bring me right back and I am suddenly filled to the brim. Suddenly, completely, sated.

Finished Objects!

Ramdom hat that I knit up because I dig this yarn.

So here are some of the random finished objects that I have done over the last few weeks/ months.

Sweater completed for Matt. No the ends aren’t woven in yet. & I still need to block it pretty bad as you can see. Bt the basics are there & it fits him.

Donna sweater from Magknits.com God I love this sweater. I can’t wait till it’s done. Love the yarn love the drape, love the stretch & it knits up so fast. I HATE that I am about 5 balls short on yarn. That’s rediculous to me. Thats what the pattern called for & that’s what I got. So now I have to go looking for more yarn in my dye lot. Great.  Can’t wait to wear it though. I’m thinking this will become a favorite sweater.

Some more Knitting

So I’ve been really knitting but not taking pictures of what I knit. Shame. So next post I promise will be filled with knitting type goodness.
