God I love this man!

HAHAHAhahaha haha ha. *sigh*

I just knit a new raglan sweater down to the arm pits where I was ready to put the sleeves on scrap yarn when I realized that I only had 1 sleeve. Nicely done! Doesn’t bother me too much as I just started this last night, but yeah. HA!

Happy Christmas Eve!

So I lied. I randomly took a whole lot of pictures of knits this weekend & am sitting here at work slow as can be. So knitting pictures it is.

noro silk garden chunky striped scarf.

I love this scarf. I made it skinnier than brooklyntweed’s design because I was feeling cheep & didn’t want to buy more yarn. I think I love this scarf more than the first one I knit. The colors are amazing & I had a good time photographing it.

We are so delicious!

Kathren Hepburn Cardigan from Lace Style in Ultra Alpaca “lobster blend”

This is the cardigan that doesn’t like to be photographed. Must be all the fuzziness to it. Also please ignore where I screwed up my cables. This is the back piece & I figure that non-knitters won’t even notice. I’m not going to rip it back either. I’m really in love with this knit. I know this is going to become one of my most favorite sweaters ever.

California overkill to the max.

Scarf I designed just for this yarn. Manos is lovely & the stitch deffinition is amazing.

Neck warmer. I’m addicted to these now. Berroco pure merino my own patter. Love this thing!

And finally, what knitting post would be complete with out cat pictures?

“Happy Holidays my ASS!”

Sue’s kind of a jerk.

“Who me? Never! I will claw your eyes out biznatch!”

Happy Day Off Due to the Birth of a Bastard Child!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

This will probably be my last post till after the holiday season. Things are moving along pretty quickly around here and I need to pay attention :) My husband has Christmas Eve off (I don’t *sob*) but there will be 3 days of constant knitting ahead of me :)

Also my Katherin Hepburn caridgan is coming along beautifully. It’s so soft in the ultra alpaca & the lace & cables are seriously fun. I’ve been really good about not rushing it though. I want to enjoy it.  Hopefully my cascade will come this week because I would love to cast on for Matt’s sweater :) So many projects.

I also desided that I’m going to start my christmas 2008 knits in January. I’ve desided that for every 1 selfish knit I will do 1 gift so I won’t be in a bind next year. (yeah lets see how that goes!)

And so I leave you with a pretty pretty picture of some manos.

What a nice & busy weekend. We helped the parents start seriously decorating for christmas, picked out a tree & put up all the ornaments :) I got some serious knit on & finished a stand in hat for my dad (the sweater I’ve been working on is waiting for 1 more ball of yarn to be finished) and my cabled scarf which I am totally in love with. OMG this scarf. Love love love. The color, the yarn, the stitch deffinition. Amazing! I have no pictures yet, I will soon.

Hat (pre blocking) in Misti baby alpaca Chunky weight.  This yarn is so amazing. I have desided that I am going to make a vest out of this. Specifically this vest.

Noro Striped Scarf :) YAY! This scarf could not have been more of a joy to knit. I wear it almost constantly and have yarn to start a second.  Watching the colors was truely amazing and I finished this in a day & 1/2 just because I couldn’t wait to see what the colors would do next.

Rusted Root? Really? :) I’ve been wearing this sweater for months. I’m actually wearing it right now over a long sleeved T & loving it! :) This is actually a really good sweater for me. You can see better lace detail in the noro scarf picture. This sweater is lovely to wear, a nice intro to lace & super easy. I only wish my sleeves were more poof than bag.

If You Ever Thought I Was Nuts…

You were at least 1/2 correct on any given day :) I have spent many a hour lately completely zoned out in my knitting.  The yarn to complete my dad’s christmas sweater has not yet arrived so I’ve been doing various in between projects for myself :)

Yes, we are lovely & smooshy oh so purple.

Cabled Wrist Warmers (Natalya pattern on Ravelry)

1 & 1/4 skiens of Patons SWS soy/wool blend.

I’d like to thanks Ghetto for his wonderful modeling.

This is the noro striped scarf. Details on ravelry because I can’t remember. God what a quick knit. Also I must have become such a loosey goosey knitter because I knit this on US4′s and it looks the same as those who knit it on US 7′s. Hmmm.  Lovely! I’m wearing it right now! Yay.

Started a new scarf today out of Manos silk blend in the most amazing purple you’ve ever seen. It’s just so incredibly beautiful. It also has amazing stitch deffintion. The cables I’ve done are so fluffy & huge & wonderful! GO BUY SOME MANOS!!! STAT!!! :)

Also because the ladies at Anacapa Fine Yarns are such enablers I walked out of there last night with 4 skeins of noro silk garden chunky & one skein of manos in the most beautiful variated coloway!  I promise in 2008 to only knit from my stash :)

Matt was transfered departments yesterday at his job and suddenly seems like a million pound weight was lifted off his chest.  Now he does not have to work for the She Hulk anymore and everyone seems 100% happy with it. The She Hulk doesn’t have to feel threatened by him and he doesn’t have to do data entry after working 4 years as VP of Operations. So it’s a win win. He now has a planned out career path & goals & it’s a good thing :)

I see the light at the end of the tunnel with my dad’s sweater. I should have it done maybe by tomorrow night?! Hopefully? :) I need to wash it & dry it before it gets packed so hopefully it’s done by the weekend. God I’m cutting it close this year!

So much to do bt we of course are right in the middle of the holiday party season.

KNIT-Date

Alright, god I didn’t realize how close we were till christmas. Is it just me or did it sneak up on everyone this year? Bla! I think that as a Unitarian I am going to push back my christmas until June. Sound good to everyone? It’s not like I’m really celebrating Baby Jesus or anything, just Santa & family :)

As for the knits I’m doing pretty darn good I think.  I have had a love/hate afair with my dad’s sweater. First I thought I was getting a nice deep grey. Nope, it’s black. Next I thought that since I got the gage indicated on the label with size 8′s of all things I would knit it entirely with 8′s & be so fast & speedy.  Well…I had to frog it. All loosey goosey & not my style. Then on to my trusty size 6′s and we dug in. After a couple rows I realized that I should probably deside on a stitch pattern right?

So this was born

I am the bane of my creator’s existance :(

Actually at this point I was feeling pretty good. A little over whelmed by how far I still had to go before the holiday but ok. I didn’t love this sweater. I didn’t even like this sweater. I bought yarn & knit small projects while neglecting this sweater.

Then last night something happened.

I am a huge black hole that you can’t photograph because I suck out all the light.

This is actually a knit for my dad. He’s smaller than I am so it should fit him a little baggy. But…Damn I wish I wasn’t giving this away! It fit so damn good! I love the cables in front, I love the neckline! I love the sleeves so far!

‘Ello, I am not so much a blob anymore am I? You Lurrrve me :)

I have enough Knitpicks telemark in a lovely high end biegh color to reknit this sweater. I may even publish a pattern because it’s smooshy & I think everyone should enjoy a smooshy sweater.

In other news, I actually blocked something.

I am lovely, no?

This is how much Lorna’s Laces Lion & Lamb bleeds

I am completely worth it though!

And one last knit done.

Why do I always take these pictures first thing in the morning, before coffee, with no makeup & in the damn dark?!

Happy Knitting! You have 14 days left before Christmas!

Decision Made

Matt and I have made a decision, one that might effect our family or it may not.  After over 6 months of popping pills and running tests and charting temps (among other various unmentionables) I am going to stop taking the fertility drugs.  Part of me (and I’m sure Matt too) is sad about this decision, but mostly I feel this is just the right thing to do for our family.  I have not felt like myself in the last 6 months in any way shape or form.  I have had bouts of serious depression followed by serious rage. I’ve become much more cynical and hateful than I would like. So it’s time for me to take a step back and let the obsession subside and get back to the normal life of being incredibly head over heals in love with my husband and enjoying my life.

I write about this openly (as I have done the entire time) because to many women think that there is something wrong with them when they are not able to conceive. To many women in silence suffer the intense daily pain, sadness and anger. To many women hear the constant “in time”s, “it will come”s, & “god has a plan”s only to become more cynical and hateful. Too few women remember why they are on this road and why they are doing this.  Too few women have support when they decide that enough is enough and it’s time to let nature take it’s course if this is going to happen at all.

I am not a quitter, I have made a conscious decision to stop torturing my mind and body. This may not be the choice for everyone, but that doesn’t mean that it’s wrong.

Thankfully I am blessed to have the worlds most amazing baby girl close by, and she has healed my heart enough to know that even if I never have a child of my own it will be ok.

Going No Where At Light Speed

Spinning my wheels, time is ticking away and I feel like I’m going no where and accomplishing nothing. I finished knitting the tilted duster and now it needs buttons. but the more I look at it the more I think the collar looks weird. Like too big? Not big enough? Too many stitches picked up? I can’t quite figure this darn thing out. I’m probably going to end up ripping it back to the picked up stitches & doing a few decrease rows across the back of the neck & shoulders because I don’t know what I did wrong. It just doesn’t look right. & Since my cousin is of the petite variety I can’t try this darn thing on to see what went wrong. Actually I did try it on & it would probably fit me (though not good) so that means that it will fit her just like a coat which is what she wanted (thank god) so this weekend I think I’m going to be redoing the collar on this sucker & hopefully sewing in buttons.

Another reason that I feel like I’m going no where?

Hello, I am big & black and going no where. Care to join me?

O_O This damn sweater. It is so freaking huge (for my dad) and done on size 5 needles. I really want to just be done. Why o WHY didn’t I choose a bulky yarn?! He lives in Minnesota for gods sake. But no. I’m stuck knitting the black sweater of death. I dig the cabling in front. That’s the only thing that’s making this worth while but damn, it’s a whole lot of knitting. Thankfully I’m a fast knitter or this would never be done.

I’m 6 inches past the arm pit. I have at  least 10 more inches till the ribbing. Then the sleeves. :(

Last night at knit group I was once again “enabled” by those lovely ladies and bought 4 skeins of Noro Silk Garden for my self striping noro scarf. I bought colors  84 &211 which got “that will be interesting” from some of the ladies. Which makes me laugh because babes, I was a freaking art major. If there’s one thing I can do it’s pick out great colors. Just you wait! :)

I just finished the  Natalya(by Jody Pirrello) mitts in Patons SWS and am in love. I forget sometimes how much I love bulkier projects. The speed & instant gratification is amazing. The fact that I can do 15 cable repeats and be DONE for one mit is amazing to me, considering I’ve already done 27 (times that by 9 not including sleeves) on my dad’s sweater and I’m only about 1/2 done.

Tonight I’m going to see The Golden Compass with Matt. Have you searched your Daemon? :) I’m a raccoon which doesn’t surprise me at all :P
