Snails Take 2

Rolling right along with the many finished objects I banged out in the last 2 weeks but have neglected to show, here are my MIL’s snail mitts. Colors were picked out by her & they are lovely, but not quite my taste. God knows I love the guady.

Yes, I put her name on them cause I’m a dork like that.  My mom used to embroider my name into everything when I was young & obviously this trait is genetic. I realize I should have put another blue space between the “T” & the ribbing because it looks like her name is PAN or PAM. I fail.

More color accuracy here. *Fly my pretties!*

Yarn: 2 skiens of Baby Ull (which is o so soft but not great for long floats because it stretches to much even if you are trying hard not to, which results in sad bunching *insert sad face here*)

Needles: US size 3 DPN (yes even for ribbing. As these are sitting higher on the arm than regular mits I wanted them to be comfortable).

Mods: Besides obviously changing them to fingerless mitts to enjoy cute patterns in California, I also added a thumb gusset.  My MIL loved my snail mitts so much but did remark “Oh, there’s no thumb?” so I gave her gussets, cause I’m the awesome Queen of Awesomeville. *strikes disco pose*

Ahem. Anywho…

(BTW my wedding ring is NOT meant to look knitted, since I was married before I picked up this hobby, but I think it’s cool that it kinda relates & what not :P Yes, I have been asked this many times over the course of the last 2 years).

So yeah. Love this pattern, yes there will probably be a 3rd snail mitt in the future (maybe even *gasp* FULL mittens!!! Oh the craziness!) and I promise that from now on I will block things before I post them here. Seeing these pictures I realize these mitts need a blocking pretty badly.

And on that note I share with you what was running through my head the whole time I knit these.

Ahem.

“SNAILY SNAILY SNAILY SNAILY SNAILY SNAILY SNAILY SNAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLL…..Snaily snail….snail….snail.” (repeat that like 10 million times)

Thank you for taking this little tour inside the brain of Preita, please remember to take all your valuables with you as you go.
