Weekend Recap WITH KNITTING!

When did weekends morph into 2 hectic days where you do more work in that span than you do all week? This weekend we moved. We opted not to hire  movers because I can honestly think of better things to spend 500$ on.  I would rather be exhausted after 2 days hard labor and be $500 richer. Just me though. My FIL thinks we were nuts. But he forgets how he & my MIL would have done it at our age too. How soon you forget ;P

So the house is clean. The walls are painted & the carpet was steamed. Course now we have “clean stains” (that was from the Stanley Steamer guy, BTW if you need carpets cleaned, they were FABULOUS & quick & I totally recomend them!) but the carpet is now about 6 shades lighter. I totally didn’t realize that this carpet used to be white. O_O Best thing about this house?

Say hello to my cedar lined yarn closet. There are 6 more rows of those baskets already in place behind the doors (the closet is about 8 feet long). I am a happy camper. Seriously. That ladder? Yeah, it goes to a weird “loft” that everyone (but the Mr & I) think is cool. Talk about wasted space.

Please don’t look to closely at the back yard. It needs some major help. & I haven’t finished cleaning the outsides of the windows yet. When I was cleaning I was wondering to myself “How in the hell are these windows so DIRTY?!!!” well talking with the neighbor kid this weekend I guess the Morning Glory vines I’ve seen rolled up all over the place were actually covering every single window on the back of the house. O_O How, seriously, HOW do you let that happen? I feel a little sorry for her, but that’s ridiculous.

I met my death in sock wars. Granted I wasn’t trying very hard and am glad to be done. These socks have a date with the washing matching & drier on HOT. Can you tell that one sock is in gage & the other is not? Yeah. If I cared more about this game I would say something, but I’m over it.

Matt’s seamless hybrid sweater is almost done. It now has two sleeves & just needs the yoke.  I love this sweater. Even for how big it is and how boring it was to knit, I have a feeling that this is going to be something he will wear to death.  Now I should probably make him a little bit more fancy one, maybe in navy. :D

This sweater is a loser. You can’t tell, but those waist bumps aren’t me, I don’t have hips. See where my jeans are? Yeah, I don’t know why this sweater gave me random weird love handles, but it did & I’m done. This is going to the frogging pile. Also, I thought I was knitting this sweater on 3′s? Yeah, it was a US1 circ. Nice.  I have also come to the conclusion that I can not wear raglans. Well I can but they aren’t the most flattering on me. I have large shoulders and I don’t think it suites me. Plus it really seems to make my chest look larger doesn’t it? Maybe it’s just me.

I saw this the other day and I just really liked it. Someone at Coke probably got a big raise, and I think they deserve it.  Can you get a better slogan than “live positively”?

And Bob is wondering when we are finally going to move so he can stop picking on my in law’s cats.

He’s been having a turf war with my inlaw’s cat Pharroh since we moved in. I think this is probably due to the fact that they look EXACTLY alike. The only way anyone in the house can tell is by looking face on. Who knows. Soon they will have their own cat tree up over looking their own bird filled back yard.

  1. Becky- I have a root canal schedualed for the end of the month under sedation :D I really like this guy.

Veronique- Thanks! It was so much work, how do we always forget moving is hard work?! But yes, the house is pretty big especially by CA standards and the yarn closet is my pride & joy. I will have to post pictures after I fill it up!

  2. That yarn closet looks amazing!!! Also: I love weird loft spaces…

but what I wanted to say was that I don’t like raglans either – for my figure anyways. I think the diagonal lines really frame boobs and make normal/large chests look huge. I have narrow shoulders anyways so raglans are pretty much opposite of flattering on me.
You are not alone. Set-in sleevers unite!

  3. I covet your yarn closet.
If you want to give it a try, you could probably get out those bumps in the sweater with a good blocking. I don’t know if you want to deal with the other things wrong with it, though.

  4. The bumps are because I did waist shaping (per my old frame) but I guess I don’t have those inches anymore. No amount of blocking will get them out unfortunately. It was a knitting mishap! :P

Ali- Set in sleeves OR saddle shoulder! No more raglans for me!. They totally do frame the boobs!

  5. HAHAHAH Shawna- tomorrow I will post a few pictures of the shape the house was in BEFORE we cleaned, painted & sanitized it. Trust me. You would have been horrified.
