No Internet For YOU!

Seriously. AT&T owns the line that goes into the house. So Verizon can’t provide me internet services. (Shouldn’t I as the consumer be able to choose who I want my services with? But no, I guess this is regulated by the FCC. Thanks Big Brother for fucking it up!).

So I call AT&T right, no biggie since I really don’t care who gets me to the internet as long as I can still upload my pictures & update my ravelry account. What does AT&T tell me? That their “hub is full, and we will not be able to provide you with service at this time”. So they own the line, won’t let anyone else provide me the DSL that I want but won’t provide it to me either?

No folks. There are very little things that I really get upset with customer service representatives for. I get upset at out right stupidity (not knowing the answers or stubbornly telling me something I KNOW is wrong). Everything else is NOT their fault and I can chill as long as they need me to on hold. I’m zen like that.

BUT! When you do not know when I can get Internet services from your company on the phone line that YOU OWN or what it means that your “hub is full” or where I can look up this mysterious FCC regulation that chooses my Internet and phone services for me, you fail. Hard core.

Now Direct TV is telling me that the partner they have in my area is AT&T. HAHAHAHAHAHAhaha haha ha. *sigh*. We might have to go farmer style and have satellite Internet. In a suburb. A suburb located 45 minutes northwest of Los Angeles, and 35 minutes south of Santa Barbara, and 45 minutes from The Valley. Here, we have no Internet access.

So what do you do now?!

WIP & UFO’s

I’m half way through my Lace Ribbon Scarf in Henry’s Attic Prime Alpaca. When I first started this I was all “I’m going to knit this sucker till the end of the skien” With the scarf nearing 4 feet aleady (if not there) before blocking and still a good 1/2 skien left, it’s obviously not going to happen.

I have been really bad about photographing finished objects these last few weeks. I think moving has a lot to do with it, but they also aren’t things I’m terribly excited about.

Like these socks. In DAY GLOW pink. Yeah.  I think so too. But they go in shoes right? So um, yeah, I have no excuse for these. I also have no excuse for the Day Glow Lime Green sock yarn in my stash other than, “It seemed like a good idea at the time”.  These are a simple two row repeat from Barbara Walker’s A Second Treasury Of Stitches (or something like that). Basically it’s Row 1: *K3, P3 repeat from *, Row 2: * K1, P1 repeat from *. Nice & mind numbing right? They work. That’s all I have to say. Though they came out a bit stretchier than I would like. Oh well.

I also knit two pink hats that I could care less about. What’s with the pink you ask? I have no idea. I must have been having a pink month. I’m over it now. I think. I hope. Time for some earth colors. I decided against all your advice and am going to knit the CPH next. The green Lamb’s Pride is calling my name and I can not resist any longer. Well I can, as I’m not going to put it on the needles until we move into the house, so that’s restraint right?

Did I show these yet? Probably not. These were the second of my sock wars socks. I had to knit them from scratch because my target never started knitting. I think that soured me on the whole thing because when I got my SIP from the person I “killed” I just let them sit. Now I am dead and I’m fine with that. The yarn was OK, but I probably wouldn’t buy it again on my own.  The pattern sucked the big one. It was huge (you were NOT allowed to take out a repeat to make it actually fit anyone) the instructions were poor. I could understand and forgive this from someone who’s first language was not English, but the pattern writer was from England (or Ireland) and there’s no excuse. At $2 a head & with 1300 people signed up everything could have been better.

And because I have gotten a few comments like “the house doesn’t seem as bad as you said!” well, it was, it’s hard to photograph filth. But I tried. For recording purposes only.

Let’s examine this picture shall we? Ok, moving boxes, no big deal right? I mean everyone has them. Except these do not belong to us. The belong to the previous occupant and are still in the garage. *sigh*. See the thing on the wall? yes we had to remove that for her so she could “move” that also. The back window? No, that’s not a trick of the light. It’s really that filthy. I guess the morning glories had grown up over every single window in the back of the house which means I have to send the Mr to the roof to make sure they didn’t damage the shingles.

The crap that was left in the bedroom. Look at the floor, now imagine it 10X worse in person, that’s about accurate.

This is house was dosed with a good helping of lysol. The stove is going away forever next weekend, the fridge is leaving this weekend (I have to call & get the recylcers to pick it up (as i don’t want a fridge that stored “whatever it was that bled so profusely” in it.

We are almost there. We have the living room set up, the kitchen unpacked, the office set up (for the most part, more shelving is needed) the guest bedroom set up, and tonight we are doing the master bedroom. This weekend we are moving in. So yeah. It’s been busy around these here parts.
