Wham Bam Thank You Lamb!

AKA, instant gratification.

I started this project at knit night and had cast off before I left. It was awesome.

The pattern isn’t really a pattern, but we can all figure this puppy out I’m sure.  I have no idea how many stitches I cast on, I’m thinking 35 like Hello Yarn, but it might have been less. Basically you knit till it fits around your head & then you seam it asymmetrically. Brilliant.

Yarn: Katia Northern
Needles: US 10
Pattern: Wham Bam Thank You Lamb!

Seaming it this way creates a nice curving line no matter where you look, it also slouches quite perfectly from every angle.

As you can see this cowl can be molded to a variety of different styles.  The bulkiness of the yarn creates a great thick fabric that really holds it’s shape. Sometimes I don’t really want drape, I want structure.

And apparently from looking at these (and many other pictures) I really love to hide most of my face.  It’s my ninja training coming out I guess. ;)

Also? I’m really loving my hair floofed up & pushed back. I wish I had the courage to wear it in public like this.

Swallowtail Shawl

I started this shawl on a whim many months ago, and it completely kicked my butt. It was my first time using lace weight & doing an actual shawl. I decided to go against my nature and read the written out instructions instead of following the chart.

It ended badly. Three times badly.  First I ended up with 1000+ stitches after the 6th repeat. That’s classic Preita, I plowed ahead with out ever a thought for the ending stitch count, which is as I found out 195 after 14 repeats of the budding lace. Nice right? I had ruffles to the max! So I put this away and decided that one day I would conqueror this shawl.  Everyone has their arch nemesis knit, one that is so freaking easy to everyone else but you can’t figure it out. This was mine.

Then I found some lovely blue yarn & I decided to give it ago once more. This time I read only the chart.

Swallowtail Shawl

Swallowtail Shawl

Pattern: Swallowtail Shawl
Yarn:Araucania Nature Wool Multi 2.5 skeins
Needles: US 6
Mods: 19 repeats of budding lace per Mintyfresh’s specs. Worked out quite beautifully.

Im not really pleased with these pictures, but they will do.

I'm not really pleased with these pictures, but they will do.

It’s beautiful and I actually did knit this whole darn thing in 2.5 days. I think I found my knitting mojo again. I wanted to make this extra large because though I thought this was going to be my shawl when I started, 1/2 way through I realized it was going to be a gift to my husband’s great aunt.  My MIL had told me that blue was her fav color so it must have been fate.

Large & In Charge

Large & In Charge

It came out fabulously, it’s big enough to wrap around my shoulders with out a problemso I think it will keep her nice & cozy while watching TV or reading. I hope she likes it as it’s now in the hands of UPS who is rushing it toward Pennsylvania.

I’m currently knitting a second swallowtail in lighter weight yarn for myself as more of a scarf. I don’t know if I can pull off the shawl look so a scarf it is.

In other news the Mr has made improvements on the pond and it soon will be ready for water, a pump and fishes.

The pond is almost done.

The pond is almost done.

I think it looks amazing. The boarder really adds to it, we are going to find some low growing ground cover to fill in the dirt patches :) This is right by our front door so I’m looking forward to being greeted by fishes every time I pass by.

I have to say though that I think I have a husband that enjoys a good day’s hard manual labor more than most.  He was happy as a clam digging that 4 foot deep hole and hauling dirt.  I find it quite charming actually, some men fish to relax, my Mr works himself ragged. :)

I am going to be finishing up the sweater pattern that I have now named Matthais.  It’s a whole lot of math but I want everything to be as perfect as I can.  I will post the pattern when it’s ready for public consumption.

I also have finished 54,700 words as of last night in novel.  Writing this has really been mind blowing for me as I think I’m probably going about this completely wrong.  I can’t think about the story when I’m not writing, I can’t think about what’s going to happen because it’s like trying to shove a truck through a key hole.  I a general idea of what is going to happen, but every time I try to guide my characters in a direction it seems like my brain fights against it.  I am constantly surprised at what my characters actually say or do.  The best way I can describe it is like it’s someone else’s story, like it’s already written down but it’s just flowing through my brain to the computer.

This probably means I’m completely wacked.  The Mr has been reading & proofing and giving me feed back and sometimes when he suggests that I change something I find that I can’t bring myself to it, like suddenly I’m putting my mark on the story.  When I go through and change  bits and re-read it the flow is gone and it’s obviously just a patch, so I end up deleting it.

The best example is that I didn’t plan to reveal my traitor till right before the climax and I didn’t intend to reveal my dragon (yes it’s fantasy, I’m a ridiculous dork) till the climax, well randomly it’s like my characters flipped out while I was writing last night and both revealed themselves.  Reading through it I can’t even figure out how to change it because seeing it on paper I realize that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

It’s just such a weird experience all around.

Pom! Hat free pattern

Pom! Hat free pattern. (Ravel it!)

Pom! is a hat knit in chunky weight yarn with small cables.  This hat is great for the beginner to learn cables or the master cabler wanting just a little quick something to knit.  This hat hugs your head comfortably without being too tight and has a nice rounded crown created by quick decreasing so that no one needs fear the conehead shape.

Pom! is named for the fun pom pom topping off the hat, of course no pom is needed for those more conservative types, but I think it adds a little whimsy.

Supplies:
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky 2 Skeins
(Or any chunky weight yarn of your choosing 164-200 yds)
Needles: US size 10 DPN’s or 16″ circular (though you will need the dpn’s for decreasing)
Notions: Stitch Marker, tapestry needle, optional cable needle

Abbreviations:

LT: Left Twist.  Slip 1 knit stitch to cable needle and hold to front, knit next stitch then knit stitch from cable needle.
(This can be done with out a cable needle by just holding the slipped stitch with your thumb against the needle. It sounds more complicated than it is. Here is an example of cabling with out a cable needle. it will save you time.)

Pattern:

CO 80 stitches
Place stitch marker and join in round and work K2, P2 all the way around.
Work 4 more rounds (you will now have 5 rounds of K2, P2 ribbing)

Row 1: *LT, P2 continue from *
Row 2: *K2, P2 continue from *

Repeat these two rows until hat measures 7 inches long, or as long as you need your hat. Remember, the decrease rows are short and will not add more than a 1/2″ onto the length of the hat itself.

Decrease Rows:
Row 1: *LT, P2, K2tog, P2; Repeat from *
Row 2:  *K2, P2, K1, P2; Repeat from *
Row 3: *LT, P2tog, K1, P2tog; Repeat from *
Row 4: *K2, P1, K1, P1; Repeat from *
Row 5: *LT, P2tog, P1; Repeat from *
Row 6: * K2tog, P2; Repeat from *
Row 7: *K1, P2tog; Repeat from *
Row 8: *K1, P1; Repeat from *
Row 9: *K2tog; Repeat from *

Break yarn leaving approximately 10″ tail. Will tail thread through a tapestry needle and draw through remaining stitches and cinch closed.  Secure tail into wrong side of hat and weave in all ends.

If you wish to adorn your hat with a pom pom instructions can be found here.

Now That’s A Meme Of A Different Color!

A meme that will most likely get me in serious trouble with the Mr.

What are your middle names?
The Mr’s middle name is David and mine (oh the greatest mystery of the known universe, what DOES that ‘M’ stand for in P.M.S) is Martin. It’s my mother’s maiden name and my father’s grandfathers middle name.  Double bonus.

How long have you been together?
We have been married 5 years and 5 months.  We have been an item for 6 years this month. Yes, we did work fast.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
I met the Mr in Oct of 2000 when I was invited to my best friends house for a long weekend in college. He was dating someone else & wasn’t available.  They broke up a few years later and we actually got to know each other in December 2002.

Who asked whom out?
I don’t know the answer to this question.  I think I invited him to come visit Minnesota from California, and I am sure I made the first move too. So um, yeah, it’s all me baby!  If it weren’t for me where would we be? No where that’s where.

How old are each of you?
I’m am 26 (though people are constantly amazed by this, which makes me wonder if I look old?) and the Mr is 30.

Whose siblings do you see the most?
Um, well his I guess since I don’t have any :)

Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
This question implies an ongoing situation which I don’t think we have.  I think the hardest situation that we have ever faced as when I, my husband and my FIL all worked for the same company and they wanted my FIL to settle his contract so they could sell the company & move us back to California.  In the end they used my husband and I as leverage against my FIL.  Those months were the single most painful months of my entire life because this asshole was trying to hurt my family.

Did you go to the same school?
Nope, I went to college with his sister :)

Are you from the same home town?
No. I grew up in Plymouth Minnesota & the Mr was born in California, moved to Conneticut then to Massachusetts then to Michigan then to Illinois then back to California. He’s from California but I always refere to his home state as Michigan.

Who is smarter?
I would say that I am equally as smart as the Mr, BUT! I am a know it all and am way more vocal about it.  The Mr is brilliant, but quiet.

Who is the most sensitive?
This is hard.  I think we are equal here, but we show it differently.  If you would ask an outside party which one of us was more sensitive they would say I was, but the Mr shows it differently so it usually comes off as anger when his feelings are hurt. This is a trait he shares with his dad and has taken me a while to crack.

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
We rarely eat out. Honest to god, hardly ever so I really couldn’t tell you.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Sanibel Island FL, god that sounds lame :P

Who has the craziest exes?
Me. Hands down. I think it’s because I dated a lot.  I once had an ex who didn’t believe in dinosaurs cause they weren’t in the bible.  They get worse, but it’s almost embaressing that I went out with them in the first place.

Who has the worst temper?
Again, this is hard. I can go into full blown red eyed rage with a snap of the fingers where I most likely will threaten to punch someone right in the throat, but it’s like a firecracker, big bang & then nothing. I burn myself out quickly and honestly forget almost instantly.  The Mr though, it takes so much to get him really angry that I believe I’ve only seen it twice but it’s way worse than me.

Who does the cooking?
The Mr cooks most of the time. I can cook, I just don’t like to.

Who is the neat-freak?
Neither of us. We don’t care about being neat, we have things called “hobbies” and cleaning is not one of them, so that means we usually do a bi weekly purge of clutter.

Who is more stubborn?
I am no doubt.  I am more unmovable than a moutain when I’ve dug in my feet.

Who hogs the bed?
Me again. I go to bed first (the Mr and I have different bed times most nights he’s a night owl, I’m not) so I’m not sure how he manages to roll me over when he comes to bed.

Who wakes up earlier?
Me again! :) I am up at 6 every morning (sometimes earlier) and on weekends I try to stay in bed till at least 7:30 but it often doesn’t work.

Where was your first date?
Pandora’s Cup in Uptown Minnesota which is sadly no longer there. We spent the day at the Walker Art Museum and went to have coffee and talk for 6 hours afterward.

Who is more jealous?
I don’t know that either of us are.

How long did it take to get serious?
I don’t think there was a time when we weren’t. We knew we were going to get married after our first date.

Who eats more?
What kind of stupid question is this?

Who does the laundry?
I do. Every sunday when we go over to the inlaws for sunday night family dinner.

Who’s better with the computer?
The Mr, definitely.

Who drives when you are together?
He does, but it’s often a fight because we both love to drive. It’s sick.

Weekend Visitor

Friday night my cousin Rebecca walked up my sidewalk and started off one of the most fabulous weekends I’ve had in quite a while.  See, none of my family lives here in California so we are mostly centered around the Mr’s family.  This is fine & I love them more than anything, but I often feel like a fish out of water, I’m louder than they are, I talk more, and I can have quite vulgar humor.  I also have a bad habit of getting excited and sticking my foot right in my mouth. Sometimes it’s funny, but other times it’s completely embarrassing and makes me feel stupid.

Where am I going with this? Well, when you are around people who are not innately like you are, you always feel a little out of sorts, always on the fringes because you don’t understand them & they definitely don’t understand you.  Well, Rebecca gets me and I totally get her we are both loud and constantly talking.  I’m sure the Mr was a little overwhelmed at points, but I found it completely refreshing to not have to hold anything back for fear of her taking it personally.  I’m allowed to have my own opinions (even if she doesn’t agree) with out penalty.

Rebecca, looking as freaking cute as ever.
Rebecca, looking as freaking cute as ever.

Rebecca has been one of the coolest people I’ve known for a long time.  I used to go to New York after Thanksgiving to visit her and remember having my mind blown by things like, sushi, homeless people, and cabs. (Hey, I was 14 after all).  I think she inherently has a cool factor a million times higher than me and I still feel myself looking to her for inspiration and a little bit of guidance.

Friday night we had some great Mexican food and chatted, excessively. There was a minor upset when I went up to the counter for my reservation & the lady stared blankly back at me.  Yes, someone did take my reservation, but I should have called back as the lady repeated everything I said 3  times, a sure sign she didn’t understand a word coming out of my mouth.  I’m sure it was way too much talking for my dear husband, but he held his ground fairly well I would say.

Saturday we got up early and talked some more while the Mr still slept, when he got up we headed out to see as much of California as we could in 1 short day.

Grant Park in Ventura.

Grant Park in Ventura.

We took her up to Grant’s Park in Ventura. It’s one of those great places along the California coastline where you can see everything for miles around.  It was an amazingly clear day (after days of rain!) which made seeing the Channel Islands really easy to do!

After that we headed up to Santa Barbara and I finally got to visit the Loop and Leaf for the first time.  I’ve heard about this yarn shop for about a year and the last time I went it was closed, so I was extremely excited.  They have a beautiful littleshop but a limited selection.  They have the full line of Shibu & Sheep Shop and quite a bit of Hand Maiden, Koigu & a wall of Kauni and that’s about it, they are a beautiful boutique, but I’ll take my Anacapa Fine Yarns anyday.

Kauni Yarn.

Kauni Yarn.

I bought two different colorways of Kauni & Rebecca picked up a beautiful skein of Handmaiden cashsock. Yes, she did start knitting while she was here.  I was really amazed at how fast she picked up the long tail cast on and the basic garter stitch.  She even recognized her mistakes immediately. I’m seriously impressed to say the least.  I think this kind of learning curve is genetic which we both share.  It’s not fun for either of us to do anything that we are not immediately good at, so it’s imperative that we get good, fast.

So pretty.

So pretty.

We headed out of Santa Barbara before 3 to avoid the massive Valentines Day crowd headed up there. (The Mr & I don’t celebrate Valentines, it’s a holiday for daters and since we love each other unconditionally every day we don’t need 1 day to prove it.  I think these things are less important when you are married for a while).  The 101 N was a parking lot making me quite glad we were going south.  We took the back way down through Ojai on the way back, stopping for a little window shopping and some performance “art”.

Im not sure exactly what was going on, & Im pretty sure they were high.

I'm not sure exactly what was going on, & I'm pretty sure they were high.

We had Toppers Pizza (Delish as always and a complete treat) for dinner and settled into knitting and movies.

Unfortunately she had a flight to catch early Sunday m0rning so our time together was short. Thankfully I think that it’s renewed her desire to eventually live out here so I will have to keep enticing her with trips :)

)

Modeling the Koolhaas hat I gave her for Valentines day :)

One more amazing thing? She digs the hand knits, how much more awesome could you be? (also, I am completely in love with her sunglasses, and realized that I was reflected in every shot I took).  I tried to get her to pick out a sweater pattern for her next gift knit but she asked instead for a lap blanket, and after scouring Ravelry I couldn’t find one that interested her, so off to my stitchonaries I go.

Once she left it was back to normal life. I’m a little more than sad that she’s gone and feel lonely for some family, for people like me.  I spent the rest of the day knitting on my sleeve of the sweater I designed for the Mr. It soon will have a name and a full functioning pattern. Right now I’m testing and tweeking.

I will not run out of yarn, but I think I will have just enough to knit the collar. This sweater will have to be seamed in a different yarn because I just won’t have enough. Live & learn I guess. I’m still not sure why I bought less than my usual amount but shit happens.

The Mr spent the day finishing the hole for his pond. He received  a pond for Christmas from the parents and is almost done putting it in.  I think it’s looking freaking awesome and can’t wait to get the waterfall running and fishies a swimmin’ :)

In a pond!

A Sweater Fit For A Man

This weekend I finally finished a huge FO.  I finished the sweater I designed myself for my husband, and I believe I can brand this one raging success.

Cabled collar & epilates

Cabled collar & epilates

Pattern: My own design, currently nameless
Yarn: Araucania Nature Wool Solids 8 Skeins, one hell of a deal!
Needles: US 6 through out (I did this so that the K2, P2 wouldn’t pull in and would lay flat when worn & wouldn’t create a “muffin top” look)

Cabled Sleeves

Cabled Sleeves

The Mr needed a new sweater, and since he has been wearing his saddle shoulder ez sweater constantly I decided a hand knit was quite appropriate for someone who had shown so much love for the first sweater I knit him.

So I had set off in search for a pattern. I searched to the very bowls of Ravelry and you know what I came up with? Nothing. There was not one single sweater pattern for free or for purchase that was sized so that I could just knit it for my husband.

Seaming detail

Seaming detail

I don’t think words could express how frustrated I was by this fact.  To search through so many different designers and not find one single person who had written a pattern to accommodate a man sized man.  I know some people have thin men in their lives, but I have never been one of them.  I grew up in Minnesota and I like a man that could survive the winter with out shivering to death like a half  frozen chihuahua.  There is also a certain attractiveness about a man that can haul a fridge strapped to his back if he were so inclined. (You might not think that would be useful, but it so is).

So what is a wife of this man to do? Do I let him go sweaterless because there isn’t a pattern to go by? No. (Of course I could knit another saddle shoulder EZ sweater, but if you’ve knit one, you might know it’s not necessarily something you want to do OVER & OVER again, and for a big man? a seamless sweater becomes quite cumbersome).

So I designed one. I used Anne Bud’s sweater guide as a rough outline, but you know what? Even she didn’t size big enough. So a lot of what I did I made up along the way.

Cabled Seaming Details.

Cabled Seaming Details.

It’s all in the details: My husband isn’t a man who (yet) will wear a full on cabled aran sweater.  He’s appreciates the “beautiful” stockingknit stitch, and though that makes for easy knitting, it also makes for boring knitting.  So there was a compromise.

I must be allowed to cable the arms.  He agreed only if he could pick out the cable. Fantastic! He picked out two cables and they turned out quite lovely.  I would have picked a more complicated one, but I think this is just enough and still “manly”.

Another thing I did that I’m quite happy about is that I inserted a cable next to each seam stitch.  I didn’t think this was going to be a big deal in the long run, but it turned out so beautifully.

Cable seaming details.

Cable seaming details.

It added such a lovely little unexpected punch.

Another thing the Mr requested was a cabled collar, he thought it would be really cool.  I admit I was a little hesitant about it, I was worried about it standing up weird, or that it might look like a necklace, or too girly, but I said I would try.

Cabled Collar

Cabled Collar

I’m quite glad I followed his request. The collar is beautiful and really subtle. I think anything bigger than this garlic braid he picked out would have been too much, but this is quite lovely.  I also added another twist to the cable on the epaulet because I wanted a full diamond repeat before the collar.  So many aspects of this sweater came together so beautifully that I suspect I must have had some serious knit karma built up.

Hes pretty darn happy with the result.

He's pretty darn happy with the result.

So in light of this success, I have decided to finish the math and publish this pattern so that no woman will ever be want for a sweater in an extended size. I’m aiming for the end of this month.

All Handspun, All The Time

It’s currently raining in Ventura County, yesterday it was sunny and in the 80′s.   I still miss the constant cold, the reliable nose-hair freezing weather that stays put for six months.  You may think I’m nuts, but 350 days of constant sun can be just as depressing. Or maybe it’s just me.

Anywho, since it’s been quite chilly at night down here by the beach I whipped up a small project.

Toasty; true to the name.

Toasty; true to the name.

Pattern: Toasty
Yarn: My own handspun BFL
Needles: US 7 DPN’s throughout
Verdict: LOVE LOVE LOVE

I had seen this pattern quite a bit around ravelry but never thought much of it, then I randomly (because with me everything is random) had the urge to knit my own handspun RIGHT THIS SECOND!  But what to knit? Not everything is suited to a beginning spinners handspun.  These were amazing though.  I was completely impressed with myself how these knit up.

They are rustic and silky at the same time. There are some blobs of thicker yarn here & there but mostly they are pretty damn uniform. And the feel?  You know that feeling of a good bowl of oatmeal on a cold winter morning? How you feel so damn good eating it that you (for a minute) convince yourself you are going to eat oatmeal for the rest of you life? Yeah, that’s what it feels like, but better.

In spinning news I finished spinning up the rest of my white BFL and dyed it with kool aid. Ok, people, I have to say something.  I loved kool aid when I was a kid, but now that I’m an adult?  Does anyone actually give this to their kids anymore?  It’s so damn gross.  Sickly sweet and artificial smelling! Course I believe the same thing about jello too.

Bad for drinking, great for dying!

Bad for drinking, great for dying!

That’s 400+ yards of light sport weight that’s going to become some socks :) I’m totally in love with the color for sure.

Next up is some Shetland. I’d say this is heavy sport/ aran weight before washing & thwacking.  I’m not sure what it will do once it’s out of the bath but I’m almost hoping it will plump up.  My next goal is to learn to spin thicker while keeping it even.  I have approximately 6 more ounces of this stuff which I’m thinking of knitting into a wrap of some sort.

Shetland 2 ply

Shetland 2 ply

There’s still some fluffy points where I’m not sure how that happened but it’s much more even.  Also It hink I’ve got the standard plying down.

So dear readers, I need your help on picking  a wrap, any ideas?

FO Of A Different Sort

This weekend I actually accomplished the things that I set out to do. Crazy, right?  How often does that actually happen anyway? Almost never if you are me.  I managed to get a haircut, clean the guest bedroom out, knit a little (though not much) and spin A LOT.

To prove to you how monumental this was here is a before of the guest bedroom.

Dont judge me, you all know you have a room in your house just like this.

Don't judge me, you all know you have a room in your house just like this.

And to show you what we ended up with at the end of the weekend….

Amazingly clean.

Amazingly clean.

Yes, I realize we are missing a box spring, we got that last night from the parents house (they were borrowing it for one of their beds). I think I might hang up some art in this room too because we have SO MUCH of it! Also, I found that this is probably one of the coolest rooms in the house even with that sun peeking in. And when you open the sliding glass doors (yes every bedroom in our house has sliding glass doors) the breeze is amazingly fantastic.

So Rebecca, as soon as I wash the linens this bed will be all set for you! :) I also hear it’s an amazingly comfortable bed too.

What else did I do? I spun yarn. Actually I spun a bobbin worth of singles & plied it to a languishing bobbin I had full since before Christmas. Did I mention that my awesome spinning teacher who had rented the Mr & I the kiwi’s decided to sell them? To us! :) Two for the price of one AND a jumbo flyer! (Which worked out completely awesome when I plied all this sock yarn!)

Who needs pearls when you have handspun?

Who needs pearls when you have handspun?

That would be 400+ yards of BFL 2 ply. I managed to ply this on to ONE bobbin. If you do not have a jumbo flyer, go make the investment. It makes it so much more fun.

BFL Skeined up (unblocked)

BFL Skeined up (unblocked)

This yarn is going to be dyed tonight.  I’ve thought about dying the roving directly, but honestly? It scares the crap out of me. I am more ok with dying yarn because I’m not so worried about it felting. Also? My MIL gave me her old crock pot (I bought her a brand spanking awesomely new one for Christmas only to find out it’s the same one I have! LOL No wonder I liked it so much!) so if all turns out well I will have FO dyed pictures to show you by the end of the week.

Yes, it is a big skein & Im seriously happy!

Yes, it is a big skein & I'm seriously happy!

It’s a big skein :) I’m really proud of this. You have to understand too that this is only my 3rd or 4th atempt at spinning to completion.

On a completely different subject I am boycotting Vogue Knitting from this point forward. It kind of breaks my heart a little because there are some very talented designers who seem to favor this magazine over Interweave Knits.  But I can’t do it, even if it means missing out on a beautiful pattern.

Why am I boycotting Vogue Knitting?  Dear reader, I am boycotting because of the sizing.  I don’t know how a 40″ bust became an XL, but it is, and now it’s the largest size offered by many of the designers in Vogue. I’m not sure if this is because Vogue Knitting has that as a guideline or if it’s the designers themselves.  Either way I want to say “Shame on you”.  Seriously, I’m not being sarcastic at all either.

Shame on you for not doing the math, shame on you for not sizing up the pattern further.  These are items that we are making for ourselves, that we as knitters are constructing with our own two hands.  By not sizing it further than a 40-42″ you have alienated more than half the knitting population.

I am pretty damn disgusted at this whole sizing issue. I don’t know why it should even be an issue, but it is. Heaven forbid the sizing go past a 52″, because you know, no woman would possibly want to knit herself a cute sweater that is past that size, cause you know, if your bust is that big you wear nothing but mumus.

So I’m making a stand because I believe that no woman should ever be made to feel less than because of a number, a size ,or some jackass’s preconceived notion of what beautiful is. So farewell Vogue Knitting you are now joining the ranks of Rowan in that I will not even thumb through your glossy pages.

On a side note, why do men’s sweater sizes stop so small? I married a man sized man. He is no little waif.  He played defence in football and goalie in lacrosse. He’s solid and can lift more than most other men weigh, and I’ve yet to find a sweater pattern I can knit strait from the numbers for him. They don’t even come close to his chest size which I think is a pity since I grew up in the Midwest and I know that there are a lot more men his size and shape than those with a 40″ chest.

I’m currently almost finished designing a sweater for the Mr.  I will be writing a pattern for it and publishing it here.   If you are intrested, stay tuned.
