Sugar Plum Mittens

There are some projects that start out with amazing ideas and you can’t wait to possess this fabulous knitted idea.  Then reality fails the concept and you are bummed.   This is NOT one of those times.

I ask the Mr what I should knit and he came back with “MITTENS!” and then he picked out the color.  It helps being married to an art major I guess.

I present to you the Sugar Plum Mittens.  You may purchase them through Ravely there.

This pattern uses approximately 300 yards of light sport weight yarn and fits the average woman’s hand.  A stylish little holiday accessory for any this can easily be masculinized by using a different color or using a heavier weight yarn.

Knitting Mojo

It seems that i’ve really found my knitting mojo over the last 2 months.  I was worried for a while there that nothing seemed to turn out the way I really hoped, but recently it’s kicked in full swing.  After three shawls that have been rather well received (thank you all!) I have finished a sweater and started a new mitten design.  The most astonishing part of designing the shawls is that people have actually purchased the patterns (which is incredibly humbling) and I now have some christmas spending money.

On to the knitting!

I asked the Mr “What should I knit now?” and he decided that it was to be mittens.  So Friday night I cast on for a pair and have finished 1/2 of them.

Cabley and purple.

I was quite happy with how they turned out.  Now I just have to revise the cable chart I started and write out the pattern.  Oh & knit the second mitten :)

The other knitting project I have completed is my Phyllo Yoked Sweater from Knitting From Nature.  Better pictures are coming after it’s dry I assure you.

I am still shopping the stash and havent’ bought yarn in months.  Though I miss buying new yarns (there are so many beautiful colors and textures) I enjoy getting the closet of yarn in a manageable state and using long forgotten yarns.

I didn’t realize how much purple I was working with.  Now though it’s going to be silver. More on that later though. I hope to have the mitten pattern named and up for download by the end of the week :)

Rough Sea Shawl Pattern

First off I’d like to thank you all for the wonderful response I received to my High Desert Shawl, it’s so humbling to see the sales and the wonderful comments.

So another week, another pattern.  I present the Rough Sea Shawl.  I thought the pattern looked like a rough ocean wave with all the different textures.

Pattern is available for purchase through Ravelry.

This little shawl uses that great little skein of sock yarn you have lying around with out wasting a single yard.

High Desert Shawl

A perfect little shawl that uses that beautiful skein of sock yarn I know you have lying around.  Some yarns are just to pretty to put on your feet!

Mood Of Blue

I haven’t really been feeling blue exactly, but to say that everything is fine would be an understatment.  I’m not exactly sure how to explain the disconnected feeling I’ve been experiencing lately.  It’s not that I feel ill but I feel separated.  Oddly enough though I’ve not had the energy or social skills I normally do I’ve been knitting up a storm.

I’ve had a few skeins of sock yarn laying around for a while that I didn’t want to use for socks.  Some yarns are just too darn pretty to go on your feet.

I’m working up patterns right now.  Great little shawls that add the perfect amount of warmth but are light as a feather.

All I’m ha vying troubles with now are finding names for them.

I’ll be posting the shawl pattern for the hand painted shawl later this week.  I’m just about done putting it into pdf format.

This weekend the Mr & I are ranch sitting for Tom  & Mette while they are down in LA for an alpaca show.  I’m really looking forward to the solitude and quiet of the ranch and hanging out with the animals.  Now I just have to figure out if I want to knit, spin, or write while I’m up there.

I’m slowly starting to come back to the real world, soon I’ll be posting regularly again I promise.

Another New Shawl

I’ve been absent from the internet again.  Seems these days I’m just not able to keep things updated.  That doesn’t mean that I haven’t been knitting though.  Mostly completely the opposit.  Here’s a preview of what I’ve been up to. :)
