There has been a whole lot of knitting over here a che poopers but not a lot of finishing.  I think it’s due to project ADD because I want to start a dozen things but finish nothing.

Socks designed for my friend Jim

I decided to knit these socks for my friend Jim because it was over socks that we first became friends and I thought he’d appreciate these great colors and handspun quality of the yarn.

Creature Comforts

I’m also working steadily on my Creature Comforts cardi. I love this sweater but I hate knitting it. I HATE it. For anyone curious this is a 31 inch rectangle with pockets.  If you are a larger gal like me it’s a LOT of knitting with out much interest.  The oak leaves add some distraction but honestly, not enough.

Oranges!

I have also been harvesting and juicing oranges from the back yard.  One random weird secret about me is that I love orange but I hate eating them.  My best friend Shawna will attest that it takes me about an hour to eat an orange because I must pick off all the pith before consuming.  It’s just not worth the effort for me.  So I juice and freeze the spoils so that I do not waste the oranges.  Then I can use the juice for baking & cooking as I choose.

The Mr and I went to a book signing tonight.  Frankly it was the first for me and though it won’t be the last I totally wasn’t prepared.  I told the Mr this “It’s Brandon Sanderson, you know, he wrote the Mystborn series” Little did I know that he had also written the last Wheel Of Time book after Robert Jordan passed.  I’m not a Wheel Of Time fan so I honestly wouldn’t have put 2 & 2 together.

And I got a little something for me…

I will be burning through this and adding a review on this site.  Of course it’s Tad so I’m biased but this series is deeper than his others I think.

A wonderful weekend at Peddlers Pack

The Mr and I went to visit our friends Jim & Carol and Tank’s southern pack this last weekend.  Every time we go it’s such a wonderful time.  Maybe it’s because we live in the suburbs  and don’t have alpacas and peacocks running around that we find a certain novelty in it.  Also, I now want a million windchimes.

I could take pictures of these guys all day long. The colors and their attitudes really get to me.

I love the sounds of all the chimes and gongs swinging in the wind unfortunately I don’t have good trees for them like Jim & Carol.

After weeks of terrible winter weather it was a beautiful perfect spring weekend.  Nice and sunny, not too warm but definitely not cold. Gotta love it.

The almond tree had it’s very first pink bloom which made me smile after knowing how much snow Jim & Carol had just a few weeks ago.

Bubba is looking much better these days too.  He had a perforated bowl a couple weeks ago & they weren’t sure he was going to make it.

I have also been knitting.  This is one of 3 sweater projects I have on the needles right now. I love the garter stitch with tweed and of course the colors are my favorite :)

It has also almost officially been 1 full year since I have quite smoking. I don’t think about it most days but there are still days that I miss it.  I have commissioned my friend Jim to make me a cuff bracelet for that anniversary that I can wear every day to remind myself of how far I’ve come.  I’ve given him artistic license because he’s the artist, not me, and I know I’ll love it no matter what.

Circle Wrap Sweater

Getting back on the blogwagon here with another new knit.  This sweater I saw right before christmas at my friend Carol’s shop and immediately loved but hated the price tag.  So being a knitter I took some initiative and made a copy.  The result is my favorite sweater ever.

The result is a light weight warm sweater that’s super soft and delish to wear.

One of the best features is the long round collar that bunches perfectly around your neck to keep you warm.  The reverse stockingknit is fun and interesting and rustic.

I used just under 3 skeins of Henry’s Attic Prime Alpaca in a fingering weight on size 4 needles. At times it was tedious but the result is one of the most wearable sweaters ever.  Perfect for California beaches it’s light and breezy but alpaca strength warm.

I am planning on posting for free the recepie that I used to put this sweater together.  It’s really just a basic cardigan with a bowed front shape and some serious short row shaping through the hem and collar.  This shaping creates length while keeping the nice curve.  Yes, it was a pain because there was a LOT of knitting on this sweater but I’m glad I did it.

Did I mention I love this sweater?!

And I’m not the only one to get a new sweater…

Tank is such a short haired pup he gets cold in the snow and rain so he needs a little help.  One skein of eco wool + and a crochet hook and a sweater is being born.

Another sweater is in the works too.

Garter st and tweed is delish!

Tank still goes to the dog park every day and I can’t tell you how happy I am with this decision. It’s like putting your kid in a really great day care.  He plays really well with the dogs and is Mr popular with dogs and people alike.

Tank has a thing for little dogs and I’m not sure why. He LOVES them and wants to play so badly but mostly they are intimidated by him.

I don’t think that we could have been blessed with a better dog. He’s so well balanced, happy, and willing do please I just feel like such a dork talking about him.

Woah

So it’s been kind of a while since I’ve last posted.  The fact is that when I get home from work I’m just not really up for putzing around on the computer especially since I sit in front of a computer all day.

I have been working on some crafty type things.

I’ve crocheted a scarf that I really love.  It’s out of a heavy fingering weight icelandic wool that makes a delicate looking but sturdy and warm scarf.

Even Tank has gotten in on the crocheting.

A few weekends ago the girls and I went to Santa Monica on a small yarn crawl.  I have to say that Wild Fibers is one of the prettiest shops around.

I finally finished spinning some gotland though I still have more to spin up.

Tank is probably the happiest sweetest pup ever.

Spring is coming around.

We took tank to the beach for the first time and frankly he wasn’t impressed.
